As a stay-at-home mom who spends her days changing diapers, napping whenever possible, and regularly speaking in high-pitched, sing-songy baby talk, I sometimes think I can actually feel individual brain cells shrivel up and die. I’ll take intellectual stimulation wherever I can get it, including from this blog, my virtual time-out chair.

BlogRoll

When the bundle of joy is sleeping peacefully, the dishes are done, the floors are clean, and the laundry is folded and put away,  I like to relax by browsing through a few of my favorite websites.

Okay, so if I’m being honest, I suppose I also browse through them when the bundle of un-joy is sitting in a poopy diaper wailing like a banshee, the sink is full of crusty plates, the floors are still covered with last night’s dinner, and the laundry is sitting forgotten and wrinkled in the dryer.

Enjoy a few of my favorite distractions and you too may discover a more relaxed and easy-going domestic bliss!

Here they are, in no particular order:

Where my favorite librarian keeps me laughing and teaches me more than I ever wanted to know about Prince:

Confessions of the Garbageman’s Daughter:  Talkin’ trash and diggin’ up dirt on motherhood, marriage, libraries, books and Prince

Where I get fabulously crafty ideas that I hope to someday actually implement, thus impressing all my friends and family:

Home Confetti

Home Confetti: Throw some confetti into everyday life

Where I enjoy reading all about an American mommy living overseas and dream about travelling to England for a bit of Sticky Toffee Pudding:

Bumpkin & Me

Where I get to laugh at other moms whose day-to-day experiences are so much like my own, and where I enjoy reading their shocking, anonymous confessions:

Scary Mommy: An honest take on motherhood; the good, the bad, & the scary

Where I learn strategies and techniques for building an awesome blog.  With this kind of help, I may actually get there someday:

Now excuse me.  I smell a diaper that needs changing.
