As a stay-at-home mom who spends her days changing diapers, napping whenever possible, and regularly speaking in high-pitched, sing-songy baby talk, I sometimes think I can actually feel individual brain cells shrivel up and die. I’ll take intellectual stimulation wherever I can get it, including from this blog, my virtual time-out chair.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

As I pack up my wardrobe and prep the urchins for a journey to the Renaissance Festival in the land of Larkspur, I must first bid adieu and farewell.  Alas, my time has come to an end. I have been ousted from Blogger Idol. Oh, woe is me!

To those of you who voted for me, I offer my hearty thanks. To those of you who did not, I say “thou art a boil, a plague-sore, or embossed carbuncle”!

I bow in respect to my competitors and to the judges. Be they lovely ladies or wretched wenches, valiant knights or village idiots, they have all gained my respect. I shall continue to read and vote and encourage you to as well!

But for now, I shall enjoy some time off as I dine on turkey legs and beer, and bear witness to the suspense of the joust. I shall then continue on to the shire of Colorado Springs and the hamlet of Cripple Creek. Oh, the merriment that will ensue! The zoos, the gold mines, the trains, the mountains! So, until I return…

… farewell… adieu…

See you in a week! While I’m out, feel free to click on the tab at top to read some of our favorite posts.

  3. I love RenFest! The one in Texas is not to be believed. Turkey legs, gahhh. But they wait til October to have it so we don’t all melt.

Drink a tall glass of mead for me!

    • Julie, where is the one in Texas? I’m originally from Texas, but I don’t recall ever going to the Renaissance Festival there. Yeah, October would probably be a good time of year for it there!

  4. Sorry to see you go from BI, but just remember that you went down fighting!

Turkey legs and beer…..life just doesn’t get much better than that! Have a great time!

  5. Hey Christi – I still remember my trip to the Renaissance Festival with your family when I was a kid. If I recall, we had awesome straw hats, rode on a big swing, and ate so much I thought I might barf….It was seriously one of the best memories of my childhood.

Enjoy your time. And, sorry you got voted off. I was pulling for you!

    • I remember that Jody – especially the big swing! I don’t recall the straw hats though. I just remember the beautiful princess hat I got. Little did I know then how many frogs I would kiss over the years in search of my prince charming!

  6. Love the way you wrote this :) The Renaissance Festival sounds like awesome fun – enjoy yourself! And so sorry about Blogger Idol!

  7. Enjoy your time at the festival and at least you get to pick your blog topics when you get back. Writing from prompts is like having a vampire nibble on your bone marrow. Enjoy your break. You deserve it!
